A Long Hot Film Shoot
The Australian leg of new feature film Summer Coda wraps and moves to US.

Richard Gray's debut feature, Summer Coda, recently wrapped its 6 week shoot in Mildura, plus a few additional days in Melbourne, and is now moving to Reno, Nevada in January for the final part of the shoot before bunking down for post-production with an eye for a late 2010 theatrical release.
"Directing Summer Coda has been a dream come true," says Gray, who was runner-up in the final year of the filmmaking reality series Project Greenlight with the script for Summer Coda.
"Six years in the making, it's finally happened and we couldn't be happier," he continues. "Phenomenal performances in spectacular locations -- what more could I ask for? We can't wait to get it out there."
Summer Coda is a romantic drama set in the stunning orange groves of country Australia. Returning home to a family she's never known, Heidi (Rachael Taylor from Transformers and Cedar Boys) meets Michael (Alex Dimitriades making a welcome return to the big screen) and embarks on an unexpected adventure, discovering that their secrets and lives are better shared.
The supporting cast for the film includes Daniel Frederiksen (Ten Empty), Cassandra Magrath (Wolf Creek), Susie Porter, Jacki Weaver and You And Your Stupid Mate alumni Nathan Phillips and Angus Sampson.
With temperatures throughout filming exceeding 44 degrees and other days bringing drought-breaking rains, the shoot was nothing short of challenging. Locations such as vineyards, riverbanks, sprawling orange groves and long hot roads have been captured in the film with Mildura proving to be a distinctive background for the story to unfold according to the filmmakers.
