Hun Launches Arts Centre Into Digital Frontier
September 01, 2010 09:59
A new state-of-the art multimedia Hub at the Arts Centre will offer world-class video production and recording studio facilities for Victorian students.
Launching the new Arts Centre Digital Learning Hub, Minister for the Arts Peter Batchelor said the facilities would ensure the Arts Centre moved with the times.
“The Hub will enable students and young people to learn about sound recording, engineering and new digital frontiers that are impacting on the performing arts scene,” he said.
“A contemporary Arts Centre needs to move with the times, and our Arts Centre is doing just that with these new facilities.”
Mr Batchelor said in 2009, more than 150,000 students took part in the Arts Centre’s programs and more than 15,000 of those visits were specifically for multimedia and online programs.
“Most young people are tech-savvy. They own tools of modern technology, know the buttons to push and create their own content in ways other generations could never have imagined.
“What the Digital Learning Hub does is harness the enthusiasm and willingness of young minds to go further, to challenge technology and to create new and exciting projects.”
Mr Batchelor said new facilities included:
• Video production and editing equipment with green screen capability so that students can create digital video content for their projects;
• A separate state-of-the-art recording studio with a world class vocal booth and a fully digital mixing system; and
• Video conferencing facilities which can link directly to over 1550 Victorian State schools.
