Flickerfest Now Recognised By BAFTA
July 06, 2010 12:29
Flickerfest is thrilled to further broaden its international profile through becoming Australia’s only BAFTA recognised short film festival. The British Academy Of Film and Television Arts Short Film Award is the most prestigious prize for short film talent from the UK and Flickerfest is honoured to be recognised for the purposes of eligibility for the Short Film Award in 2010/11. This honour compliments our status as the only Academy® Award accredited Short Film festival in Australia and its largest short film competition.
Flickerfest is now accepting entries from Australia and around the world for the 2011 Festival, celebrating 20 years of the best short films from around the world. Flickerfest will screen for 10 days at Bondi Beach from the 7th til the 16th January 2011 before heading off on a national tour.
For 2011, the Festival is pleased to announce two new competitions: FlickerUp – for films from primary and secondary school students or filmmakers under 18 years, in Australia, which will encourage and support a whole new generation of Australian filmmaking talent; and GreenFlicks – celebrating Flickerfest’s passion and commitment to a green festival and showcasing films from around the world with an environmental focus or theme.
