Bayside Film Festival Kicks Off July 14

July 05, 2010 09:59

The Bayside Film Festival 2010 is going to capture your imagination! This Festival has collected interpersonal stories about struggle, survival and the human spirit. The curated program Tales By the Sea features Australian and International films hand-picked for their strength and originality.

Opening Night features two World premieres Jyoti and The Songs They Sang, which explore the resilience of the human spirit in the face of profound adversity. This theme is continued with the closing night which features the Australian premier of The Betrayal, 2009 Oscar nominee for Best Documentary.

Bayside Film Festival has a strong focus on local filmmakers who bring a fresh approach to independent filmmaking. The Youth Documentary Program involves the creation of short documentaries as well as digital stories made exclusively for the festival. These works are personal and reflective, and affirm the importance of understanding individual perspectives in our culture.

The Festivals workshops and Q&A explore the filmmaking journey with some of the best talent in the Australian film industry such as AFI winner Clifford Hayes (Mad Max), Genevieve Bailey (Last Time I Cried) and Rohan Spong (T is for Teacher). Joseph Giovinazzo (composer for The Songs They Sang) will join Rohan for Thursday nights Q&A.
