Palace Opera & Ballet Is The New Black

April 12, 2010 16:54

'Opera & Ballet 2010' and Palace Cinemas is the ticket to Europe’s finest stages. A sexy new wave of opera and ballet devotees are throwing away the monoculars. It’s out with the ballet pumps and in with the Manolo’s.

Verdi's final opera, 'Falstaff' from the 2009 Glyndenbourne Opera production, will screen in eleven venues across Australia on April 23, 24, 25 and 28 at selected Palace Cinemas. 'Falstaff' has long been an admired favourite with critics and musicians because of its brilliant orchestration, scintillating libretto and refined melodic invention.

'Falstaff' is a mercurial, nimble-footed, darkly-funny and profusely tuneful portrait of Shakespeare's Fat Knight. This production is directed by Richard Jones and led by the exciting British baritone Christopher Purves in the larger-than-life role of the corpulent Falstaff, who’s presence both outrages and inspires the leaner, meaner citizens of Windsor.

All productions are filmed live in high definition with seven cameras constantly cutting between multiple angles, close-ups, long and medium shots and bird's-eye views of the stage.

PALACE OPERA & BALLET 2010 screens nationally until September 22 at the following cinema venues:

Melbourne: Palace Balwyn, Palace Brighton Bay, Palace Cinema Como, Palace Kino Cinemas
Sydney: Palace Norton, Palace Verona
Brisbane: Palace Barracks
Adelaide: Palace Nova Eastend, Wallis Cinemas Mitcham, Wallis Cinemas Mt Barker.
Perth:Cinema Paradiso
