Special Events at Cinema Nova

February 08, 2010 17:51

Nova is hosting a number of special events in the coming weeks.

On February 7, 27 and 28, Nova will be screening four landmark ballets captured live at the magnificent Palais Garnier to celebrate Serge Diaghilev bringing his Ballets Russes to Paris 100 years ago. This tribute brings together four diverse and inspiring works.

On February 10, Nova will be hosting their first Script Alive Reading for 2010. The Insect King is a story told through the eyes of 13 year old Fin, a budding entomologist, and explores the sacrificial nature of love. Script Alive is an initiative staging readings of unproduced screenplays by Victorian writers. The scripts are read by professional actors who have rehearsed with the writer and director and offer the public a rare chance to witness a new work in progress.

On February 18 audiences can grab a ticket to see a one-off screening plus Q&A of the Oscar nominated documentary Burma VJ. Burma VJ tells the story of these young reporters and, for the first time, assembles their extraordinary footage to tell the complete story of the September rebellion. The film offers a unique insight into high-risk journalism and dissidence in a police state.
