Youth In Revolt

While ocasionally a little too clever for its own good, this witty and ambitious comedy comes out on top.

Visioneers

A peculiarly compelling little film which admirably demonstrates restraint and well-paced comedic timing.

Beneath Hill 60

Devoid of overblown heroism and boosted by fine performances, this is a powerfully affecting war tale.

A Prophet

This sprawling ultra-realistic prison drama is a near-masterpiece and further complemented by a clutch of impressive special features.

Peter Booth 'Film star' painting in fine art auction

November 09, 2009 19:19

A major painting by Peter Booth, one of Australia’s most important contemporary artists, to be offered at the November Deutscher and Hackett Important Fine Art Auction, was the subject of a short film starring Max Cullen, Asher Keddie and Laurence Fuller, titled Possession(s). Cullen and Keddie, both starring in X-Men Origins: Wolverine, teamed up with Fuller, producer Trilby Beresford and director Jim Lounsbury to create a powerful short film that explores the nature of desire, obsession and possession.

The film will be showing at the auction preview exhibitions in Sydney and Melbourne along with the painting, which depicts a man in the snow with a bandaged head. Originally shown about four years ago at Rex Irwin’s gallery in Sydney, the painting was snapped up by Fuller, who “had to own it”.

Painting (Man with Bandaged Head) 2004, the Peter Booth on offer, will have an estimate of $80,000 – 120,000 when auctioned on 25 November 2009 at Deutscher and Hackett, 105 Commercial Road, South Yarra, Victoria.

The painting, and the film, Possession(s), will be displayed at the Deutscher and Hackett galleries.

In Sydney, from Thurs 12 – Sun 15, then in Melbourne from Thurs 19 – Tues 24 November, and CDs of the film will be available to interested parties.

Sydney Preview and film screening: Thur 12 - Sun 15 November, 11am – 6 pm daily
