Taylor, talk about your transformation for this new movie.

He goes through a lot in this movie, he transforms mentally and emotionally which is extremely important but the hardest for me personally was the physical transformation. So I worked really hard to try and transform Jacob's body so I could portray him correctly for all of you guys! And I hope you're pleased when you see the results.

How hard was it for you to buff up for the role?

As soon as I finished filming Twilight, I knew what I had to do and I knew I couldn't wait to do it, I had to start right then, because, I mean, to put on thirty pounds that takes a long time. So, I had to tell myself I want to portray this character correctly, so I've got to start now, as soon as possible. Once I made that decision and that decision was not hard to make, it was not hard to get into the gym. The hardest part for me was actually eating, and eating a lot, and a lot of good foods, and cutting out all the bad foods, and always putting something in your mouth. Every two hours I have to have something, so that was the most difficult part for me for sure.

And there was all that controversy...

Well, I knew what I had to do, and that's what I did, I stayed focused, and it all worked out well.

What of yourself do you bring to the role?

If you asked my friends or family, or anyone who knows me, they'd all say that I'm much more like Jacob pre-transformation rather than after - because that's before he goes wacko! I hope I'm more friendly and outgoing than this dark, disturbed person.

How different is it filming in Vancouver rather than Portland?

They're both cold and wet and it's just not fun. Don't get me wrong, I mean, not wearing any clothes...

Is the whole press and public fascination with you guys different this time around?

It's more relaxed because we've done it and we know what we're doing now. We're back with a cast that we're comfortable with. But you definitely feel more pressure because you know now that the fans have high expectations.

Does that help you try to raise the bar?

Yeah absolutely. I think the major thing for us is pleasing the fans and giving them what they want to see. Twilight raised the bar, now we feel a little bit of pressure. We try to push that behind us and try to focus on what we need too.

Do you ever think about how good it is to do this franchise?

Yeah absolutely, it's been a lot of fun. It's something totally different than what I've ever experienced or will ever experience. So it's been a great ride. And I'm looking forward to getting back to work.

What's it like working with David Slade (Hard Candy, 30 Days of Night), who is directing you in Eclipse?

I've only met him twice, while I was actually filming New Moon, so I know he's been up there for a while, scouting and stuff, so I'm excited to get up there and meet and talk with him and pick his brain. It's really awesome to have the opportunity to work with so many different directors, and work with their different styles. So I'm looking forward to getting to know David.

The Twilight Saga: New Moon is in cinemas from November 19
